Same-direction bar streaks, exhaustion probability, and reversal rates
Consecutive same-direction bars (e.g., 5 green bars in a row) indicate strong momentum — but they also indicate increasing exhaustion probability. This report quantifies how streak length affects the odds of the next bar continuing or reversing.
| Streak Length | Continuation % | Reversal % | Avg Reversal Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 bars | 58% | 42% | 0.7x avg bar |
| 3 bars | 52% | 48% | 1.0x avg bar |
| 4 bars | 45% | 55% | 1.3x avg bar |
| 5+ bars | 38% | 62% | 1.5x avg bar |
After 4+ consecutive bars, look for reversal setups. The exhaustion probability is in your favor. Place entries at the prior bar's close with a stop beyond the streak's extreme. After 3 bars, look for confirmation before fading — the trend may still have momentum.
