GEX Pattern Recognition

The GEX profile creates recognizable patterns that predict price behavior. This report tracks the outcomes of each pattern type — how often they hold, break, and what the average price reaction looks like.

Pattern Types

Wall — A large cluster of gamma exposure at a single strike. Acts as a barrier — price tends to reverse at walls. Call walls cap upside; put walls provide downside support.

Cliff — A sharp drop-off in gamma exposure. Creates an acceleration zone — once price breaks through the cliff, it moves rapidly with little resistance.

Ladder — Gradually stepping gamma levels. Creates a staircase-like support/resistance structure. Price tends to move step-by-step through the ladder.

Reshuffle — Rapid reconfiguration of the GEX profile (often after OpEx or large options trades). Previous patterns invalidated — reassess.

Trading Strategy

Respect walls as S/R — fade moves into large GEX clusters. Trade acceleration through cliffs — once the wall breaks, ride the momentum through the cliff zone. Use ladders for scaling entries — add at each step level as the ladder provides structured support.

Pro Tip

GEX patterns change daily. A wall at 5800 today might shift to 5850 tomorrow as options positions adjust. Always use the current day's GEX profile, not yesterday's. The report shows historical outcomes, but apply them to today's live levels.
